This is a tough question to answer. Where do we start? So many awesome superheroes and with Marvel and DC Comics bringing so many to the big screen over the past 10 years, we had to dig deep to come up with this top 10 list.
Below is our Top 10 Superheroes List:
Number 10: Deadpool
You have to love Deadpool. His dark humour and complete lack of morality has led him to become one of the funniest Superheroes around. Ryan Reynolds expertly delivered portrayal of Deadpool in 2016 put the Superhero on the map. Deadpool has immense self-healing powers and incredible strength.
Number 9: Spiderman
Spiderman is the flagship character of Marvel Comics and a very well renowned Superhero across the globe. To look at the scrawny figure of Peter Parker might not look too formidable, but his strength, agility and long limbs allow him to stand up against any enemy.
Number 8: Professor X
Professor X may seem an unlikely Superhero as he is disabled and permanently wheelchair bound. But he is a Professor and has genius level intellect. Professor X’s super powers are truly remarkable; he has the ability to read the minds of anyone on the planet and can interfere not only with the thoughts of others but project his thoughts directly into your mind.
Number 7: Batman
In 1939, Batman was created and has since become one of the most popular Superheroes of all time. The Caped Crusader has been commemorated by a whole host of Hollywood stars including Ben Affleck, Christian Bale, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Michael Keaton and of course the iconic Adam West, who first took up the job of Dark Knight.
Number 6: Flash
The Flash makes it onto most Superhero lists has been donned as the Scarlett Speedster for the past 60 years. Flash was a Forensic Scientist before we was struck by lightning and dowsed in various chemicals, which turned him into the fasted man alive, able to travel at the speed of light through objects, time and dimensions.
Number 5: Wolverine
Wolverine is the most violent Superhero to make our list. A member of the admirable X-Men, Wolverine prefers isolation and is generally seen as grumpy and antisocial, however he has a deep commitment to his fellow mutants.
Wolverine’s most notable mutations are his switchblade claws which he can make appear through his knuckles and his power to heal quickly.
In 2017, Hugh Jackman made his last appearance as the Wolverine. It will be hard to imagine anyone else doing justice to the roll as Hugh has.
Number 4: Captain America
Captain America has been described as the long arm of government; however this dedication for defending America means following orders comes second, fighting its principles comes first. A Superhero dedicated to civil liberties and the defence of citizens, Captain America has most recently been portrayed by Chris Evans on the big screen.
Number 3: Ironman
Howard Stark, the father of Ironman was the founding member of the Avengers so it seemed a likely path for Tony Start to become a Superhero. Ironman first appeared in the Tales of Suspense series in 1963 but is better known as the conceited capitalist portrayed in the Ironman movies by Robert Downey Jr. Although Tony Start was always a ruthless businessman, his progression into Superhero status was unlikely. Initially profiting from death, Tony’s deep moral compass eventually came to the forefront and the Superhero was born.
Number 2: Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman is by far the most famous of all female Superheroes and is part of DC Comics “Trinity”, alongside Batman and Superman; a formidably trio. Until 2017 when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was released, Wonder Woman was the only member of “Trinity” to not feature in a feature movie.
Wonder Women is as powerful as Superman with her origins coming from Greek Mythology. She deserves to not only sit amongst the iconic Superheroes featured in our list, but secure the number 2 spot.
Number 1: Superman
The last son of Krypton was always likely to take the number 1 spot and here is why. Arguably the most iconic of all superheroes, Superman has an arsenal of weapons at his disposal. From incredible strength and piercing laser beams shot from his eyes, Superman is essentially indestructible just as long as there is no Krypton present.
Superman precedes most Superheroes, created in 1938 and was immortalised by the late and great Christopher Reeve. Some argue that the emergence of Superman spawned the entire Superhero genre as we know it today; some would call Superman the Godfather of Superheroes.
A lot of fantastic Superheroes did not make our list so commiserations to Thor, The Hulk, Black Panther, the Green Lantern and all the others; it is a very competitive space.
Fortunately we can all purchase Super Hero Merchandise and enjoy our favourite Superheroes anytime.
